If you are a Marlborough local, you'll be familiar with the Para Wetlands – the swamp between Picton & Blenheim where the pale & thinning willows fill an eerily beautiful area of wetland. If you're from New Zealand, you've probably sunk a few cool Renaissance Brews on a Summer's afternoon. Let us tell you what craft beer, Para & Paper Rain have in common ~ The Woodsman.
Thanks to everyone who came along to our Collab Brew Launch last weekend! It was a great turn out in the sunny Grovetown Pub courtyard & the beers were a'flowing. For those who couldn't make it, Renaissance Brewing Co along with our team, were launching our inaugural WOODSMAN Mocha stout, some profits of which will be heading toward the Native Replantation of our local wetlands.
This Brew originally came about as a concept flung around after the Marlborough Environmental Awards 2014, when Judge & Renaissance Marketing man, Roger, thought to connect their beer to our boards in an environmental cause we are all excited about – planting trees for the good of all. In short, we pulled together Seresin Estate Pinot Noir barrels, Wellington Chocolate Factory Peruvian Cocao nibs, local coffee, Belgian yeasts, roasty malts, milky sugars & Paper Rain design to create a belly-filling, thirst-quenching beer which we are all proud of. We've now gone on to make a limited series of plant illustrated wine/beer-barrel longboards to add to the collection.
$1 from every pint or bottle sold, as well as 50% profits from our boards, will head straight toward helping in the rehabilitation of Para Wetlands. Find a Woodsman on tap in your local brewhouse, Scotch Bar, the Grovetown or in a bottle at the nearest New World. The Wetland board series are up for display in our Picton HQ (29 High Street) & in our online shop.
